It's summer, so we may as well hike! We went up to Silver Lake one Saturday and talked our friend's the Antezanos into coming with us. Dean stayed home and got some work done, and the boys were real troopers. Lincoln took a liking to Ivan who taught him some Spanish along the way.
6 Boys on a log.
Our Tuesday Playgroup went on a little hike in Sandy. It was perfect for our group! This is Sidni, Wally and Lincoln who found a cave!
We had a great trip to Island Park with some of my mom's family! This is my cousin's daughter Ava and Lincoln. They were at the top of a giant waterfall in Yellowstone.
A long day in the car, driving in loops all to see this natural wonder.
More hiking = more smiles!
Luckily our trip was not in vain! We saw some wildlife!
Right next to our campsite in Island Park was a "heritage days" where the very small town put on a pretty awesome carnival. We happened upon it as we were looking for a kid friendly hike. It turned out to be very kid friendly!
The kids got to spin their own ropes.
And touch a real grizzly bear!
And Dean lassoed a piece of wood.
And we made some leather.
We had a great trip and even weathered an infamous Island Park Lightning storm on the last night. My boys love camping! and that makes me a happy mama!
Looking at this picture you would think Thomas is about to take off walking. Well not yet...stay tuned. He'll get it.
We took a day hike to Doughnut Falls. There is quite a scramble through the river to see the doughnut. It was fun to have an 8 year old Carson I could do it with.
It was a pretty busy day and lots of squirls were eating a lot of people's food. Lincoln didn't like the squirrels and just wanted to eat his lunch in peace. While Carson and I climbed high, Lincoln sat in the middle of the river on a rock. I kept checking on him from far above him and he was so content, then some people were off the trail and small boulders started falling off the cliff he was next to. I watched one splash within a foot of him. I was grateful that day for the angel that kept him safe.
Sometimes the best way to initiate cleanup is to take a picture of the masterpiece. This is one of those examples.
Carson and Khari day is always loads of fun in the sun! Happy half birthday Carson and Khari!
I suppose it's time we attempt a haircut. He looked like a new kid-sorry there's no after pic.
When they start climbing on things, that's when I start getting nervous. And rightfully so- with the dozens of bumps and bruises this kid has experienced over the last 6 months.
This is the perfect climbing tree at Sugarhouse Park. It's always a must do before we leave. This summer these boys mastered it. This is Oliver at the top of one side!
And this is Lincoln clinging to the branches that wouldn't hold a kid who weighed any more than he does.
We had a pass of all passes this summer. It was well worth it because the water park is 10 minutes from our house. Especially when my mom could join and help with the kids!
More Lagoon fun! It was always more fun with cousins!
I honestly don't remember why this kid was sad...Probably just a long day at Lagoon. But he has always had the best "sad face"
