So February came and went, and I am sure glad it's over. Lincoln and I had a sick couple of weeks including late nights, and all nights, an ear infection, coughing...ok, that's enough of that. Let's just say I've never been so delighted to be on a walk with Lincoln. We walked to the library today and THOROUGHLY enjoyed the sunshine on our faces and feeling like we could breath the fresh air. With a baby on the way in three more weeks, I have been mostly nervous about how Lincoln is going to respond to the biggest change in his life. He has had three homes in his life and takes each move in stride, but I have been so nervous about this change. He clung to my side all through February which didn't help my nerves, but the day he felt better, I could surely tell because he was off playing independently with his toys again and keeps his agenda pretty busy with some of the following...
-Transporting toys and other random things from one place to another. He likes to put things into containers. Lincoln finds containers of any kind including Tupperware, pots, boxes, cups, camera cases or anything that will hold what he wants. He loads up the box or container, then unloads it and takes the toys/objects one at a time to another location. Then he takes them one at a time back to the original container.
-He is very particular about where things go. It usually doesn't have any rhyme or reason in my mind, but to him it always makes sense. He likes to organize the food and drinks on his tray and will point exactly where he wants something placed. If you change it, he'll change it right back.
-Lincoln still loves to read:-) I will often find him reading on the floor- when I'm on the floor with him, he finds a book and then finds his place on my lap. He loves to point out different parts of the pictures. He always knows what's coming next in the book and will give me his question hands indicating "where is the..."although he knows it is on the next page.
-Lincoln likes to play hide and seek...only he usually doesn't hide his whole body, it's usually a part of his body and he waits for me to say, where it Lincoln's toes, hands, eyes, etc. then he uncovers them and laughs.
-Lincoln doesn't have many words yet...but he is still a pretty good communicator. His first word was hot. He has been saying this for months, and knows to blow on his food when something is hot, and will let me know if the water in the bathtub or faucet is too hot. He also just started to say "mo" aka more, and beep beep when he drives his cars. But mostly he signs and points. He is great with please and thank you, milk, and more, more more. He will always ask for more of the following: milk, piggy back rides, songs in the middle of the night, trucks, birds, dogs, music, head shoulders knees and toes, once there was a snowman and ring around the rosies. It is a great day when he asks for more food.
-Lincoln is great with colors and shapes. He will point out any color in a book or on his clothes that you ask him too-as long as you keep it simple. He also knows the basic shapes and will point them out when asked (circle, square, triangle, star, moon).
-Lincoln loves going to the library and reading books, playing with the games, taking books off the shelves, and standing on the fish movie that is in the floor of the library. He also is great at making the fish face whenever he sees or hears the word fish.
-Lincoln enjoys the Treehouse museum. We try to make it there every week and again his favorite part is the aquarium. Only this time there are real fish swimming around. He would watch them go back and forth all day if I didn't get so bored.
-Lincoln loves his nap time and is so good at going down at night. As long as he has his thumb and his blanket. I have been so lucky to have a kid who likes to sleep. I sure hope the next one takes after Lincoln's example.
-Speaking of thumb-we officially have a thumb sucker. It used to be only when he was going to sleep or if he was tired or somewhere new. Now...if his hands aren't doing anything else, his thumb goes right in his mouth. When I first asked him to take it out of his mouth, he would, now he just looks at me like yea right mom, or he tells me "no"
-The last couple of weeks Lincoln has doubled the number of teeth in his mouth. From 3 to four...now 3 more have broken through for a total of 7 TEETH! He is getting the hang of his teeth and now bites pieces of food off before he shoves it in his mouth. Also, when I ask him where his teeth are he'll point to his teeth instead of his tongue.
-Mostly Lincoln just brings his mama so much joy. He loves to laugh and he always makes me laugh, even when he throws his food on the floor.
One of Lincoln's favorite friends is Keira. She teaches him how to be brave and not so "clingy"-they get along so well together!

| The day we washed his blanket, I didn't get it out of the dryer in time for nap...and he wouldn't sleep. Once he saw the blanket out of the bed- he didn't want it to go back in his bed. |
