September 2022

September means back to school and no more play...well, it's a busy time, but we still find time to play here and there.
Jodi and I like to go walking on Saturday mornings. We call it our therapy walk. She came to me in Salt Lake on this Saturday and we found a sunflower forest.
We were invited on a last minute trip to Capitol Reef to hike Sulfer Creek. Without phone service it was hard to find our friends, but we found a bunch of deer that weren't afraid of us at this park.
And we found the bridge that we have used for stone throwing competitions. The bridge and river were still there for all of our stone throwing needs. And per usual, Dean was able to throw the boulders in to his kids amazement!

Then for the main event. These kids hiked Sulfer Creek four years ago, and we were back. This time, we didn't have to carry anything on our backs but some water. You'll soon see why this hike is a favorite!
Climbing and hiding! What more could any little boy ask for?
Our friends got some pie, and caught up to us
Lincoln, Ezra, Oliver and Thomas Labor Day 2022
Analise and Ezra. More Climbing!
Thomas had a hangnail on his toe, and was mad at me for ripping it out. So he sulk hiked with me for a long way, then just like that, took off to join the group.
Holly helping Claire to join the rest of the kids on the ledge. Only I didn't get a picture of the ledge.
And finally! we made it to the water! The water is the main event. This time it was like playing in Chocolate Milk for 4 miles.
Thomas found some mud, and it's hilarious.
These boys found some quick sand mud. They were loving how deep they sunk into it!
I'm melting!

When you get all wet, it's cold for a minute.
You know it's a warm day when Dean gets wet.
This is such a fun group. It was many of the same families we adventured with in the Red Woods.
Dean is super dad helping Ezra through the deep part!
Thomas was cliff jumping into 4 feet of water!

Ezra was brave too!
And we got a picture on our way out to show where we have been!

This was a back-to-school stake primary activity. Kids came, ate popsicles, played games, and hopefully had a fun time.
We had a party at RP's house to celebrate my mom's birthday. Have I ever mentioned that cousin time is always fun time?
Happy birthday Grandma!

This was kinda cool. Just to me. On our way to RP's house on Friday night we watched the sun go down, and it was an awesome sunset. Then while we were swimming, there was a giant moon coming up over the mountains. The next morning I got up early to clean the church and on my way, I caught the same full moon getting ready to set as the sun was coming up again. Not sure if it's blog worthy, but there it is, on the blog. And of course, it's impossible to capture a good moon picture, but the memory was cool!
The first football game. We went to the tailgate party and my boys were not afraid to jump in with the college kids to play some nine square.
Happy Birthday, Daddy! Lincoln made oreo cookies to celebrate with.
Here's Ezra's school environment. He is so good at playing!
We were so close to swoop at the volleyball game. Fall sports are some of my favorites!
And football too! There were some extra seats by Dean, so we all sat in the same section.
I took the boys up to Maverick to get a drink. We stopped by the park on the way home. For a few minutes, the older boys are still okay to play on a playground.
And keeping the sweet treat Friday alive, we rode our bikes to chick-fil-a for an ice cream cone!
I picked up Ezra from school on Friday and let him take his scooter. On the way down the hill, he stopped, got off his scooter and found some dandelions that just needed to be blown. I don't want my kids to grow up, ever.
We had a fun Saturday with the Blackhursts. We toured a small company Grip 6 and got Dean a fancy belt, then we hit Draper Bike park. There's something for everyone here.
I think Ezra grabbed my camera and took a bunch of random pictures. But this is a very typical Sunday at our house. Thomas playing board games and Dean enduring them on the floor.
